The pub is situated Riverside and takes its name from its location on the edge of Reading town. With the premises being located right on the edge of the river Kennet which forms part of the Kennet & Avon Canal. DV architects took their inspiration from the traditional paintings found on the passing barges.
The garden was originally quite small with an oversized yard area, DV architects created a colourful fenced area within the garden to create a smaller yard area, creating a much larger garden. The fences although there for a purpose, they formed a blank canvas for their ideas to create full height art pieces using a local mural artist.
