DV Architects were tasked with bringing the old décor up to date, using existing furniture whilst retaining the traditional character and charm of the building. They also had to completely refurbish the back bar to help increase staff efficiency. This included increasing the display and serving area, as well as the glass rack space and the chilled bottle storage. With the existing bar a long L shape, it meant staff could be given dedicated stations and it would speed up the whole service. It was finished with a gold flecked granite top.
One of the heroes of the design was the glass rack which is the first of its type. It became a fantastic feature along the bar and increased the glass rack space. It was finished with brass knuckles which complemented the new feature pendants and antique brass picture lights.
