Throughout the 20th century, various changes in ownership led to significant structural alterations. However, JD Wetherspoon has meticulously restored much of the original façade and internal layout, bringing the building back to a modern interpretation of its original purpose.

The Epsom Assembly Rooms were among the first of their kind built in England and are the oldest surviving example. They stand as the most significant remaining structure from Epsom’s golden era as a fashionable spa town. The building is also believed to be unique in its design, featuring a central alley and courtyard that originally allowed carriages to pass through and sedan chairs to be carried the full length of the ground floor.

DV was commissioned to refurbish the interior with a bespoke design inspired by the site's rich history. The project included a full internal redecoration, bespoke carpeting, new furniture and lighting, an open gantry, and over-bar glass racks. A full new air con installation was also project managed by DV Architects during the remodelling works.
